Steve Degen | Partner
Steve graduated from Dalhousie Law School in 2010 and was called to the Bar in Newfoundland and Labrador in 2011. He worked as a Crown Attorney for 10 years between 2013 and 2023, starting in Alberta before moving home to join the Nova Scotia Public Prosecution Service in 2017. In 2023, Steve joined Stan MacDonald & Associates as a Criminal Defence lawyer prior to the formation of MMGD.
Steve practices exclusively as a defence lawyer, defending clients who have been charged with offences under the Criminal Code, the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, and other regulatory offences. He has conducted numerous complex and serious criminal matters on both sides, including murder prosecutions and other fatalities.

Steve is a member of the Nova Scotia Criminal Lawyers Association.

He has appeared in all levels of Court in Nova Scotia.

He has been an instructor at the Dalhousie University Schulich School of Law since 2021, teaching a course about the practice of criminal law known as the Criminal Clinic.
